Prophetik AW12

I never tire of seeing photos of Jeff Garner's Prophetik AW12 collection at London Fashion Week. Obviously a tough choice but here are my favourite picks.

Time flies...

Try one year and six days to be exact. I've completely neglected the PR blog. Not that I was ever any good at regularly blogging in the first place. Although, as ridiculous as this sounds, Twitter vindicates me - I've been tweeting, retweeting, favouriting, mentioning, etc, to my heart's content. The proof is in the pudding @PrincessRecycle. However, there is only so much information you can share in 140 characters, so consider this my first of many blog posts.

First blog post of 2012. DONE!

Source Expo 2011 - October dates announced

Mark these dates in your diary: Monday 17th – Tuesday 18th October.

The dates for this year's Source Expo 2011, taking place at Sadler's Wells - the UK's leading performing arts venue.

Source Expo, organised by the Ethical Fashion Forum (EFF), is the only mainstream trade show dedicated to ethical sourcing. Entering its third season, the Expo guarantees to bring together more international manufacturers, suppliers and co-operatives working to high ethical standards than ever before. The event will include a programme of seminars, introducing new products and exemplary supply and production systems, a Designer Pavilion showcasing some of the most inspirational design led fashion from around the world and a trends area.

Since its launch in 2009, the Expo has almost tripled in size and visitor numbers (last year's event attracted nearly 800 visitors from across the fashion and retail industries). This year is expected to break all records in terms of number of visitors and exhibitors.

Look out for further details soon on the EFF website http://www.ethicalfashionforum.com/.

Exhibitor spaces are already booking up fast – email sourceexpo@ethicalfashionforum.com to express interest in taking part.

This year the EFF has major promotional opportunities for sponsors of the event. Visit www.ethicalfashionforum.com/SPONSOR-EFF for full details, or email sponsorship@ethicalfashionforum.com.

Beautiful Soul stuns at Paris Fashion Week

I was super excited to hear about British luxury label, Beautiful Soul, showcasing its stunning new collection for Autumn/Winter 2011 at Paris Fashion Week (Zip Zone).

Designed by Nicola Woods from London’s Notting Hill, Beautiful Soul has won numerous awards, including the Ethical Fashion Forum’s Innovation Award, and fans include Samantha Cameron, Laura Bailey, Lily Cole, Sophie Anderton, Kate Nash and singer/songwriter, Gabby Young (to name but a few) who provided the soundtrack for the Beautiful Soul’s first film (see http://vimeo.com/14939321).

Read more about the latest collection below:

The new Autumn/Winter 2011 collection, entitled Painting by Numbers,
takes us on a journey through an English country garden, exploring the eternal appeal of English tradition - an escape from the pace of London, if only for a while.

This season is all about colour and the hues are fresh and bright - a refreshing twist to Autumn/Winter 2011. A blank silk canvas is the starting point, pulling from memory and reminiscing, filling in shapes with colour: swallows, English roses, bluebells, butterflies, dragonflies, and ladybirds breathe a breath of fresh air into the season. British wool also features in the range, trimmed with carved and engraved buttons.

Ada Zanditon: Autumn/Winter 2011

I had the pleasure of meeting Ada Zanditon back in May 2010 and it was clear from first introduction that she was (and still is) one to watch. Showcasing her Autumn/Winter 2010 collection Echolocation at the time, Zanditon beamed with pride and passion as she talked me through the collection – inspired by bats and their use of sound to image the nocturnal landscape. The designer also told of her collaboration with Heather McFarlane from the Bat Conservation Trust in creating organic cotton bamboo t-shirts as part of the pre-collection range (10% of profits went to the Bat Conservation Trust).
Fast forward to 2011 (at the On|Off showcase at LFW) and the eco-designer is causing a stir again with her latest Autumn/Winter 2011 collection entitled The Cryoflux. Inspired by the Antarctica, Robert Falcon Scott and extremophiles, there is no denying that Zanditon just seems to get better and better with each season. Head over to The Green Style Blog where the designer tells us, in her own words, about her day at LFW. http://www.vogue.co.uk/blogs/the-green-style-blog/110225-ada-zanditons-london-fashion-week.aspx
